who's that girl?
I'm often asked who my muse is, the woman I paint on my pots. People always assume that it's me, but the reality is that I paint women and men of all shapes and sizes. As many artists do I sometimes use my own body for reference but I much prefer the challenge of drawing others and appreciating many different figures. I have spent a lot of time drawing naked people from life over the years and I still love the experience. I especially love to paint the empowered relaxed pose of a female figure. There are all too many sources in the world that tell us we are not enough, whole industries that rely on exploiting our worst insecurities, so it feels good to make art that celebrates our bodies.
