CLAY

I buy my clay in a very special place nearby to my home, which I am grateful for as I feel really good about sourcing materials locally. The clay pit hides down a narrow lane riddled with potholes, overlooking the Atlantic ocean.

I've learnt a lot of useful information from the owners during my visits, and the setting is truly beautiful.

The St Agnes Beacon lies behind the clay pit, where you can see for miles around by climbing to the top. Over Summertime, wildfires can scorch the gorse and heather to the ground as you can see from this photograph I took whilst collecting ash to add to my glaze recipes.

On the other side of the clay pit, the hilltop gives way to the ocean. the view never fails to inspire and energise me.

I love being able to support this local business and explore the beautiful surrounding landscape.
